stage in the state. Considerable progress has been made in dispensing schooling
facilities throughout the state especially in rural areas. The enrolment has

INDUSTRIAL
TRAINING INSTITUTE LEH .
The Industrial Training Institute, Leh
was established during the year 1981 with the aim to ensure a steady flow of
skilled workers in different trades for the domestic Industry and to reduce the
un-employment problem among the educated youth by providing them employable
training. The Institute is located in
the heart of Leh town just near the new Bus Stand. It is felt necessary to mention here that for the future
expansion of the Institute, a land measuring 40 kanals has been acquired near
the Airport, Leh for the construction of
a new ITI Complex. An amount of
Rs. 20.00 Lacs has been proposed in the Annual Plan 2002-2003 for the said
construction.
The Institute presently provides training
in the Engineering and Non-Engineering Trades for both (male and female
candidates).The detail particulars are given as under:-

(During the training course a stipend of Rs.60/-
per month is paid to each trainee).
All the above Trades have been affiliated
to (DGE&T) Directorate General of Employment and Training, Ministry of
Labour, New Delhi in the year 1992. The
admission in the Institute is provided in the month of August every year and
after completion of the prescribed Training course, the All India Trade Test
are conducted by the (DGE&T) New-Delhi in the month of July every year and
the successful trainees are awarded (National Trade Certificate) on behalf of the
National Council for Vocational Training.
ACHIEVEMENT
Since the Institute has been affiliated
to the (DGE&T) New Delhi, 117 trainees have passed the All India Trade Test
till session July 2001. Amongst the
passed out trainees, most of them are absorbed in Govt. Department and
Semi-Govt. organization and others have started their own Unit viz. Tailoring,
Automobile Workshop, Transformer Winding and Radio/TV repairing and has
remained very successful in earning their livelihood skillfully. With a view to
get oneself acquainted with the rapid advancement in the field of modern
technology, this office has proposed to introduce (COPA) Computer Operator and
Programming Assistant Trade during the next Academic Session - which will prove
highly beneficial to the interested students of this far-flung area of the
State and will enable them to enhance their job and career prospects as well in
the computer technology of modern age.
