Agriculture

Agriculture is the main source of livelihood in this district as in the rest of the state. The data flowing on agriculture relates to land use, cropping pattern, pattern of holdings, off-take of fertilizers, pesticides and other inputs etc. Some of the data are based on annual enumeration conducted by the village patwari, the Agriculture census conducted after every five years and on the figures emanating from the day-to-day activities of the agriculture department. The Total cropped Area in 1999-2K was 9162 Hectares while the net area sown was 8750 Hectares. Area under double cropping was 412 Hectares. The principal crops grown in the district are grim and wheat.
